Ashwell Prince, HD Ackerman and Eric Simons could not agree on which team was in control after day one of the first Test between India and South Africa.
The three SuperSport analysts gave their views after the day’s play on Thursday and had mixed feelings after South Africa finished on 28-2, having bowled India out for 201.
‘My general feeling is that India don’t have enough runs,’ Prince said. ‘Scoring runs going forward in the match is going to be tough. South Africa dominated the first two sessions, but the third session belonged to India.’
Ackerman felt India were in charge at stumps. ‘India are in the pound seats at the moment. With AB in next and Dane Vilas inexperienced at No 6, India will fancy their chances. By taking two wickets in the final session India have caught up again.’
Former Proteas coach Simons sided with Ackerman. ‘India will feel better after day one. South Africa needed not to lose two wickets in the final session.’
