Tony de Zorzi hit the highest individual first-class score by a batsman at Newlands during day two of Western Province’s match against the Free State Knights.
The 25-year-old’s unbeaten 304 off 381 balls included 28 fours and seven sixes.
De Zorzi was involved in a 263-run partnership with Yaseen Vallie (136) for WP’s second wicket and a 147-run sixth-wicket stand with George Linde (46) as the hosts declared on 575-7.
The Knights were 34-1 at stumps, with Matthew Kleinveldt dismissed off the last ball of the day by Dane Paterson for 19. Isaac Dikgale is 15*.
At St George’s Park, Matthew Breetzke scored 112* as the EP Warriors posted 381 against the North West Dragons. Renaldo Meyer took 5-90.
The Dragons were then skittled for 116, with Beyers Swanepoel (4-19) and Marco Jansen (3-40) starring with the ball.
At stumps, the Warriors were 150-3 and leading by 415 runs after Jordan Hermann made 64 and Breetzke 69*.
At the Wanderers, Ryan Rickelton – whose ‘ankle injury’ ruled him out of Proteas selection for the upcoming Test tour of Australia – scored a second successive unbeaten century (108*) as the Central Gauteng Lions posted 354.

Proteas spinner Simon Harmer took a superb 7-83 in 46 overs for the Northerns Titans.
Neil Brand (75*) and Dean Elgar (55) put on 107 for the Titans’ first wicket as the visitors ended the day on 173-1.
At Kingsmead, wet weather meant the KZN Dolphins could only add 59 to their first-innings total as they moved to 135-4 in reply to the Boland Rocks’ 211.
Proteas opener Sarel Erwee scored 76.
