Narayan Jagadeesan set a List A batting world record on Monday that isn’t likely to be broken any time soon.
The 26-year-old smashed 277 off just 141 balls for Tamil Nadu against Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, India’s domestic 50-over competition.
His phenomenal innings included 25 fours and 15 sixes. It was his fifth consecutive century in the competition and he needed just 114 balls to reach his double ton, which equalled the List A record set by Australia’s Travis Head in the Marsh One-Day Cup in 2021.
Jagadeesan’s opening partner, Sai Sudharasan, hit 154 off 102 balls, and their opening partnership of 416 is a List A record.
Tamil Nadu ended on a staggering 506-2 – a List A record – before bowling out Arunachal Pradesh for 71 to win by 435 runs, yet another List A record.
Super proud of this duo. Sai Sudarshan and @Jagadeesan_200. Absolutely smashing records, jaggi in particular hitting 5 hundreds on the trot. Onwards and upwards! #VijayHazareTrophy2022 #TNCricket
