AB de Villiers has explained why he will never be able to play cricket again.
In a Twitter Space discussion on Monday, the former Proteas batsman said he had undergone eye surgery on his right eye due to a retinal detachment.
There had been speculation that De Villiers could return to the IPL in 2023.
The 38-year-old, who retired in November 2021, said he was also not interested in coaching at this stage of his life.
“I am definitely not planning to coach a team,” he said. “I absolutely love sharing everything I have learned, and that will definitely come. But I am not going to be joining a team [yet], coaching and travelling the world again.
“I am very happy to spend a bit of time at home after travelling for 18 years.”
