Hoërskool Die Anker crushed Springs Boys’ High School by 698 runs in a 1st XI 50-over match last Saturday.
Die Anker posted an incredible 750-7 with Matthew Smith (241 off 76 balls) and Joshua Kaltwasser (168 off 80) involved in a partnership of 354.
Jaco Jansen van Vuuren then took 5-34 as Springs Boys’ were bowled out for 52.
Acting principal Stefan Kilian says Die Anker is trying to determine if 750 is the highest score in a 50-over schools cricket match.
“I know of a school in India where a pupil scored more than 1,000 runs in a single innings, but it was multi-day cricket, not one-day cricket like Saturday,” he said.
