Proteas Women’s all-rounder Marizanne Kapp has been ruled out of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Kapp missed the three-match T20I series against England after asking to return home to Gqeberha for family reasons.
“Marizanne will be out of the Commonwealth Games,” coach Hilton Moreeng confirmed after South Africa lost the third T20I in Derbyshire.
In some good news for the team, Moreeng expects captain Sune Luus and fast bowler Shabnim Ismail to be ready for their opening T20 match against New Zealand at Edgbaston on Saturday (12pm, SA time).
“It’s a precaution from medical to make sure they recover well for the first game and that they are 100% for that game,” he said. “Sune is recovering very well and she definitely will be able to bowl, yes.”
CSA said the updated squad will be communicated in collaboration with Sascoc and Team SA.
South Africa are in Group B with hosts England, New Zealand and Sri Lanka, with the top-two teams in each group qualifying for the semi-finals.
