George Linde was the pick of the South Africans in England’s T20 Blast this past weekend.
Linde scored 23* off 12 balls and took two wickets in Kent’s 32-run victory over Somerset on Friday, while Roelof van der Merwe picked up a wicket with his left-arm spin and scored eight off six balls with the bat.
On Thursday, Van der Merwe had scored 48 off 15 balls (four sixes and four fours) and taken a wicket when Somerset beat Gloucestershire.
Essex’s 61-run victory over Middlesex on Friday featured Proteas spinner Simon Harmer and SA-born Australian Chris Green. Harmer scored seven off five balls for Essex before taking 1-20 in his four overs. Green, who picked up a wicket and scored 46* off 29 balls in Middlesex’s defeat by Surrey on Thursday, made just two on Friday and went for 38 runs in his four-over spell with the ball while picking up a wicket.
Lancashire captain Dane Vilas, coming off an unbeaten 40 on Wednesday, scored just 12 off eight balls on Friday as his team suffered their first defeat of the competition, losing to Durham by two wickets.
Wiaan Mulder scored 32 off 26 balls as Nottinghamshire beat Leicestershire by five wickets, while Leus du Plooy made 27 off 26 in Derbyshire’s 39-run win over Worcestershire.
