South Africa doesn’t have a rich history against India in T20 cricket, but in the eight games the two teams have played against each other the Proteas have only managed to win two.
Surprisingly, South Africa have never played a T20 match against India in India. Friday’s first of three games will be a first. The last time the teams came face to face in a T20, was the semi-final of last year’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh, which India won by six wickets.
The three-match series is seen as ideal preparation for next year’s World Cup in India, and the bulk of South Africa’s T20 squad for this tour should go to that tournament.
