Cricket South Africa have decided to retain the current transformation targets applicable for Franchise and Senior Provincial Cricket until the end of the 2017/2018 season.

These targets are: A minimum of six generic black players in the starting XI; and a minimum of three black African players in the starting XI.

The decision was taken at a board meeting held the day before their Annual General Meeting, which took place over the weekend.

After the AGM CSA also declared a surplus of R108-million for the 2014/2015 financial year.

‘It’s a brilliant achievement as we had projected a R106-million loss at the start of the year because it was a lean year in our 4-year budget cycle,’ said CSA President, Chris Nenzani.

‘I must applaud all involved who worked tirelessly to produce a greater than R200-million swing in this past financial year. Despite the tough economic times, we managed to maintain and build our business while managing our finances very effectively.’

CSA’s integrated report also noted transformation and the need to raise the profile of domestic cricket and Franchises as challenges to deal with.

In other decisions taken at the AGM, the members resolved to terminate the Associate Member status of both Kei Cricket Board and KwaZulu-Natal Inland Cricket Union largely due to poor governance and administrative issues. They will now be incorporated into the existing Border and KwaZulu-Natal Affiliate Member structures. The cricket playing structures remain unchanged.
