The Boland Rocks beat the KZN Dolphins by eight runs at St George’s Park on Sunday to qualify for the T20 Challenge semi-finals.
It was a low-scoring clash on a slow pitch, with the Rocks posting 119-9.
Captain Pieter Malan (33 off 30) and Clyde Fortuin (27 off 36) made key contributions at the top of the order, while Eathan Bosch (3-23) and Prenalen Subrayen (2-18) were the pick of the Dolphins bowlers.
The Dolphins made a good start to their run chase but lost both openers – Grant Roelofson (19) and Keegan Petersen (five) – with their total on 25. The latter was crucially run out.
While Marques Ackerman (23) and Khaya Zondo (24) kept the scoreboard ticking over and Andile Phehlukwayo (12) and Eathan Bosch (14) did their best to get their team over the line, they would finish on 111-9.
Spinner Shaun von Berg (2-18) again played an important containing role for the Rocks, while Ferisco Adams (2-14) and Ziyaad Abrahams (3-22) bowled well at the death.
