• Malan in the runs as Rocks hammer Lions

    Captain Pieter Malan scored 71 off 48 balls as the Boland Rocks beat the Central Gauteng Lions by 44 runs at St George’s Park on Tuesday.

    The Rocks posted 160-4 in their 20 overs, with Ferisco Adams supporting Malan with 30* off 23 balls and Christiaan Jonker making 20 off 15.

    Boland then bowled the Lions out for 116 in 17.2 overs.

    Opener Reeza Hendricks scored 46 off 39 balls and No 3 Shane Dadswell 29 off 24, but with seven batsmen dismissed in single figures they fell well short.

    Spinner Shaun von Borg took 3-14 in four overs for the Rocks, while Siyabonga Mahima, Hardus Viljoen and Adams each picked up two wickets.
