Proteas coach Mark Boucher has released a short statement after being charged with gross misconduct by Cricket South Africa.
CSA announced on Thursday that Advocate Terry Motau will chair Boucher’s disciplinary hearing.
This follows December’s Social Justice and Nation-Building (SJN) report, which made tentative findings regarding allegations of discrimination and racism against various persons, including Boucher.
Specifically, during the SJN process, allegations of racism were levelled against Boucher by his former Proteas teammate Paul Adams.
The spin bowler said his teammates – including Boucher – had referred to him as “brown s**t” during post-match fines meeting songs.

“For now I am solely focused on my duties as head coach of the Proteas.”
Boucher’s team will play India in the second ODI in Paarl on Friday, with the third ODI at Newlands on Sunday.
A WhatsApp message received by journalists from CSA had a heading that stated that Boucher and director of cricket Graeme Smith were suspended but this message was deleted almost immediately and replaced with a heading about Motau’s appointment. The statement remained unchanged.
Contacted for comment, a CSA spokesperson said the initial heading had been sent out in error and there had been no suspensions.
“The heading was incorrect and does not reflect the content of the statement,” he said.
