Marques Ackerman’s unbeaten 139 blasted the KZN Dolphins to an eight-wicket win against the Central Gauteng Lions at Kingsmead on Sunday.
The Dolphins captain struck 21 fours in his 127-ball innings as his side chased down the 257 needed to win after the Lions had declared their second innings closed on 166-6 with Dominic Hendricks scoring 72. The visitors had declared in first innings (428-5).
Grant Roelofsen (54 off 70 balls) and Khaya Zondo (53 off 90 balls) also made key contributions for the Dolphins.
At St George’s Park, Dane Paterson took 7-25 as the EP Warriors beat the Boland Rocks by 168 runs.
Tristan Stubbs scored 52 before the Warriors were bowled out for 356 to set the Rocks a target of 342 to win.
Paterson then grabbed the headlines, dismissing four of the top five Rocks batsmen to help leave them reeling at 93-7.
The Rocks were eventually bowled out for 174, with captain Pieter Malan top-scoring (41).
Due to persistent rain, no play was possible for the second consecutive day at the Mangaung Oval with the match between the Free State Knights and Western Province ending in a draw.
In Division Two, the Northern Cape Heat clinched a 253-run win over the Eastern Storm at Willowmoore Park.
The visitors declared for the second time in the clash, this time on 332-6, before dismissing the Storm for 192.
The contest between the KZN Inland Tuskers and South Western Districts finished as a draw after time ran out during the latter’s second innings.
Yaseen Valli (57* off 109 balls) and Andre Malan (59* off 116) were still at the crease.
In White River, following three days of wet conditions the clash between the Mpumalanga Rhinos and Limpopo Impalas finished in a draw.
The next 4-Day Domestic Series round gets underway from 27 January, with the action streamed live on SuperSport’s YouTube channel.
