Fast bowler Glenton Stuurman bagged a five-wicket haul for the EP Warriors on a rain-delayed day one of the CSA 4-Day Series against the Northerns Titans in Centurion on Friday.
Stuurman’s 5-34 helped bowl out the home side for just 134 in 38.2 overs after the Warriors won the toss and elected to field first, with starlet Jordan Hermann (50 off 74 balls; 10 fours) top-scoring with a maiden first-class fifty.
With the bat, the Warriors didn’t start much better before a 162-run stand for the fourth wicket between opener Edward Moore (85* off 151 balls; 15 fours, two sixes) and Diego Rosier (85 off 104 balls; 16 fours, one six) helped carry the visitors to stumps on 196-4
At the Wanderers, the Central Gauteng Lions’ off-season recruit and Proteas fast bowler Duanne Olivier took 4- 51 as they dismissed the North West Dragons for 159, despite an action-packed 36-ball 52 (seven fours, three sixes) from Wesley Marshall.
A half-century from Joshua Richards (56 off 115 balls; nine fours) led the Lions’ first innings reply as the home side reached stumps on 127-2, trailing by 32 runs.
In Cape Town, the KZN Dolphins posted a healthy first-day total against Western Province, ending the day’s play on 186-4 after they lost the toss and were asked to bat first.
Keegan Petersen’s 56 off 119 balls (10 fours) was the highlight of the Dolphins’ innings, with Khaya Zondo (29*) and Jason Smith (44*) at the crease as the overnight batsmen.
Day one of the Free State Knights vs Boland Rocks clash at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein ended without a ball being bowled due to rain.
