Leus du Plooy has joined South Western Districts ahead of their T20 Knock Out quarter-final clash with the Titans in Kimberley on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old played for the Welsh Fire in The Hundred competition and has an impressive professional record – averaging 40.13 in first-class cricket, 58.28 in List A cricket and 31.72 in 67 T20 matches with a strike rate of 125.
SWD, the only team from Division 2 to qualify for the knockout stage of the T20 competition, are up for the challenge of taking on the Titans.
“Although we respect the Titans as one the leading teams in the country, we are preparing to meet them head on,” said SWD coach Garry Hampson.
“The players gained a lot of confidence from the pool stage, ending top of the pool. We learned from our mistakes and have worked hard to accomplish another upset.”
SWD squad: Jean du Plessis (c), Travis Ackermann, Herschell America, Blayde Capell, Leus du Plooy, Hanno Kotze, André Malan, Renaldo Meyer, Sintu Majiza, Pheko Moletsane, Heath Richards, Sean Whitehead and Jhedli van Briesies.
