Captain Kraigg Brathwaite struck a brilliant 126 as the West Indies were bowled out for 354 in their first innings against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
Brathwaite converted his strong start into a ton, while Rahkeem Cornwall made 73 down the order, which helped the hosts past 300.
In reply, Sri Lanka also started decently with the bat, Lahiru Thirimanne making 55 before being bowled by Kemar Roach.
Dinesh Chandimal (34) and Dhananjaya de Silva (23) will resume the visitors’ score on 136-3 on day three, still trailing the West Indies by 218 runs.
