Proteas spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has moved to a career-best second position on the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings.

Shamsi was one of the standout performers in the Proteas’ recent series defeat by Pakistan in the shortest format.

The left-armer claimed figures of 4-25 in Sunday’s final clash, ending the three-match series with a total of six wickets.

Shamsi overtook Australia’s Adam Zampa, England’s Adil Rashid and Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman and is now only three points behind Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, who tops the rankings.

In the batting department, Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan surged up to 42nd position after his impressive showing with the bat against the South Africans.

Rizwan made scores of 104, 51 and 42, which ultimately played a big role in Pakistan securing victory.
