Omphile Ramela has been removed from Cricket South Africa’s interim board for ‘obstructionist’ behaviour, among other allegations.
Ramela, who was appointed to the board as the South African Cricketers’ Association representative, has been at odds with the other board members.
In a virtual media conference held last week, interim board chair Zak Yacoob detailed the issues the board was having with Ramela.
‘He has been generally obstructive in relation to board matters, generally defending the indefensible, basically refusing to accept the majority,’ Yacoob said.
‘He seems to make a distinction between what is right and majority decisions, and if he feels that majority decisions are wrong that he can continue to fight about them for hours and hours.
‘He does not have the discipline to accept majority decisions. He has been obstructive in relation to every difficult decision we have had to take, and it has been virtually impossible to deal with him.’
Ramela chose not to attend today’s hearing and, according to the CSA news release on the matter, ignored all correspondence from the board regarding the hearing.
