Raynard van Tonder superbly struck 166 as the Knights posted a mammoth 424 in their first innings against the Dolphins in Bloemfontein.
It was Van Tonder’s second century in as many matches as the Knights batsmen put the Dolphins’ attack to the sword.
Things didn’t get much better for the men from Durban, who were equally disappointing with the bat after being dismissed for only 162.
Shimane Mothoa was the pick of the bowlers for the Free State outfit, taking four wickets for only 35 runs, while Migael Pretorius chipped in with three wickets of his own.
The Knights ended the day on 21-0 in their second innings with a lead of 283.

In Johannesburg, rain spoiled a great deal of action on day two as the Lions reached 222-7 before play was finally called off – a lead of 107 over the Cobras after the men from Cape Town were bowled out for only 115 on Monday.
Lions opener Dominic Hendricks will start Wednesday on an unbeaten 88 as they look to extend their lead over the Cobras.
Similarly, rain ended proceedings early in Port Elizabeth as well on Tuesday with the Titans on 151-3 after the Warriors were dismissed for 231 earlier.
Lizard Williams starred for the Pretoria team by taking 4-64 in his spell before Proteas opener Dean Elgar struck another half-century at the top of the order.
