Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer have not been included in England’s ODI squad to tour South Africa at the start of December.
England confirmed both their ODI and T20I squads for the much-anticipated tour, which will officially mark the Proteas’ return to international cricket since the Covid-19 outbreak.
The tour gets under way with a three-match T20I series on 27 November, followed by three ODIs with Newlands and Boland Park in Paarl set to host the six matches.

Stokes and Archer, who will indeed be part of the T20I series, have been granted rests for the ODI series, meaning the former is yet to play an ODI match for England since last year’s World Cup final.
Liam Livingstone and Lewis Gregory are some of the less-experienced players in the ODI squad, while Reece Topley makes a long-awaited return to the fold.
Sam Billings is also part of the two squads, while Dawid Malan will be in action in the T20Is, alongside the likes of Chris Jordan, Sam Curran, Jason Roy, Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow. Eoin Morgan will once again lead the teams into action.
‘We are looking forward to touring South Africa,’ said ECB CEO Tom Harrison.
‘I would like to personally thank Cricket South Africa for their efforts in ensuring this tour goes ahead and their diligent work to create an environment that is safe for our players and staff. They are working tirelessly to pull together a bio-secure plan in Cape Town and Paarl.
‘We owe it to the sport that we do everything we can to keep international competition progressing during this pandemic.
‘Series against the Proteas are always exciting and intense. We saw that earlier this year in South Africa and we can expect the same this time around.’
