South Africa batsman Rilee Rossouw has been fined 50 per cent of his match fee after being found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the second ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur on Sunday.

The 25-year-old batsman was found guilty of  ‘inappropriate and deliberate physical contact with a player.’

He admitted the charge and the subsequent penalty was accepted without the need for a formal hearing.

The incident happened in the second over of the Bangladesh innings. Tamim Iqbal was walking off after being dismissed when Rossouw bumped him with his shoulder.

‘Rilee was very mature in discussions relating to the charge.’ said David Boon of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees. ‘He felt it was inappropriate but not deliberate, an explanation to which I agreed. However, there is no place for any form of physical contact in our game and such actions should be punished.’

Meanwhile, Bangladesh on Monday rewarded young left-arm fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman for an outstanding one-day debut by including him for next week’s first Test against South Africa.

The 19-year-old has claimed 16 wickets in his first five matches during which he steered the Tigers to a 2-1 win over former world champions India at home in June.

On Sunday, Mustafizur took three important wickets as Bangladesh thrashed the mighty South Africans by seven wickets to level the three-match series.

Mustafizur is the only new face in the 14-man squad announced for the first of two Tests against the Proteas which starts in Chittagong on July 21.
