Proteas fast bowler Beuran Hendricks is eager to build on the successes he achieved over the past season and move his game to another level in the green and gold.

The lanky left-armer earned his very first national contract after the list of 16 players was announced by Cricket South Africa in March.

Hendricks made his Test debut for the Proteas during the final clash with England at the Wanderers in January and, despite a dismal effort by the home side, he managed to grab a five-wicket haul in the second innings.

He also featured in the limited-overs formats against the English and is now ready to build on the experience he gained from playing at the highest level.

‘It does show that your hard work in the franchise system and at international level pays off,’ said the 29-year-old.

‘It does now also settle a lot of nerves and makes me feel part of the Proteas family, part of the team. I can now just focus on what I need to do to make sure we are staying one of the best teams in the world.’

Hendricks also credited Charl Langeveldt’s involvement since rejoining the coaching staff, alongside Mark Boucher and Jacques Kallis in December.

Having worked with Langeveldt in the past, Hendricks is excited and optimistic the former Proteas quick can help him further his talent even more.

‘My working relationship with him is pretty good. I have been working with him since I was 18 and he understands my bowling the best out of all the coaches that I have worked with. We understand how to communicate with each other and help each other out.

‘We know that he was very successful when he started with his first stint, so I am very sure that is going to be successful now that he is back with the Proteas,’ added Hendricks.
