As the whole cricketing world celebrates his 47th birthday today, we rewind to 10 years ago when Indian superstar Sachin Tendulkar became the first ever player to hit a double-century in ODI cricket.
During the second of three ODI matches between India and South Africa in Gwalior in 2010, Tendulkar rewrote the history books by surpassing the 200-run mark.
The Proteas’ bowlers, which included the likes of Dale Steyn, Wayne Parnell, Charl Langeveldt and Jacques Kallis, had no answer to Tendulkar’s brilliance.
He would carry his bat as the hosts posted a massive 401-3 in their 50 overs before dismissing the Proteas for 248, taking an unassailable 2-0 series lead.
