Proteas bowling coach Charl Langeveldt is working together with Cricket South Africa’s structures to develop a new batch of young fast bowlers for the national team.
The former Proteas quick has been in charge of the team’s bowling unit as part of Mark Boucher’s new coaching staff that took over in December.
‘We are looking around for the up-and-coming fast bowlers,’ Langeveldt said.
‘We were supposed to have a camp starting on 19 April for six days, but that had to be cancelled because of the virus, but we are definitely looking because you always have to have replacements.’
The 45-year-old, who was Bangladesh’s bowling coach prior to his Proteas appointment, is optimistic and excited about some of the players who’ve put their hands up on the domestic front.

‘There have been a few names that have popped up: Lifa Ntanzi, Gerald Coetzee, there’s Glenton Stuurman, Stefan Tait and then obviously Lutho Sipamla, who’s been brilliant in the national set-up.
‘So, there’s a few out there and these are the guys that will be the backup for the national team and they are the ones we want to see,’ he said.
On Monday, CSA announced that the Proteas’ scheduled tour of Sri Lanka in June has also been postponed due to Covid-19.
