• Bavuma ruled out of Australia ODIs

Batsman Temba Bavuma has been removed from the Proteas squad for the remainder of this month’s ODI series against Australia.

Bavuma didn’t play in the preceding T20I series against the Australians due to a hamstring injury, but returned to the XI for the first ODI at Boland Park in Paarl.

However, he won’t be available for Wednesday’s second ODI at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein. He has also been sidelined for the series decider at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom later this week.

Batsman Rassie van der Dussen was initially rested for the ODI series against Australia, but has since replaced Bavuma in the squad.

‘Bavuma has been withdrawn from the remainder of the ODIs against Australia as a precaution while the player continues his conditioning and rehabilitation following a right-hamstring strain,’ read a statement from Cricket South Africa.

The right-handed batsman has been included in the squad for this month’s three-ODI series in India. The squad also features the uncapped George Linde and retained Kyle Verreynne.

‘He will remain with the squad as he and the medical staff aim to have him ready in time for the team’s tour to India, which they depart for on Sunday,’ added CSA.
