Cricket South Africa president Chris Nenzani will reportedly be asked to resign this week.

Gauteng Cricket Board president Jack Madiseng, who resigned from the CSA board late last year, has gathered enough support to succeed Nenzani, according to ESPNcricinfo.

Nenzani’s tenure ends in September this year. It started in 2013 and has included two three-year terms and a one-year extension.

‘Since 2018, there has been a high turnover on the board; we failed at the World Cup and that has forced us to introduce a different structure for the team management and team coaching. We are appointing a key person, a director of cricket, and at the same time we have given a lot of responsibility to the management through the office of the CEO,’ Nenzani said at the time of the extension in September 2019.

‘These are not small changes, they require sensible leadership – which is not to say no one else can provide that – I’m part of a collective and that collective will provide that sensible leadership.’

Whether vice-president Beresford Williams remains in power is to be seen. The rest of the board will likely remain.

CSA chief executive officer Thabang Moroe, meanwhile, is still suspended.
