Former England captain Michael Vaughan’s three-way suggestion for the Proteas was completed with the appointment of batting consultant Jacques Kallis on Wednesday.
Kallis will join acting director of cricket Graeme Smith and new head coach Mark Boucher ahead of a four-Test series against England, two months after Vaughan vouched for the trio.
‘This South African Test team is a real concern for the game. The game needs South Africa to be strong. Time for Boucher to take over. Also, why wouldn’t you use Graeme and Jacques in some capacity,’ Vaughan posted on Twitter in October 2019.

Earlier this month, former England batsman Kevin Pietersen effectively predicted the Titans’ Jacques Faul would temporarily succeed CSA chief executive officer Thabang Moroe.
Moroe has been placed on precautionary suspension.

Meanwhile, former Proteas seamer Charl Langeveldt is on the brink of rejoining the coaching staff. Langeveldt was South Africa’s bowling coach before joining Bangladesh. He resigned from that role after being offered a job by CSA this week.
The first Test between the Proteas and England will start at SuperSport Park in Centurion on 26 December. The second, third and fourth match will be played in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg, respectively.
