A review that wasn’t. A nick that actually was. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson survived a close shave to go on and help the Black Caps to a vital win over the Proteas.
The final ball of Imran Tahir’s spell was a leg break that lured Williamson, then on 76, into a false stroke. His attempt to glide the ball down to third man attracted the faintest of edges.
A BIG mistake by the #Proteas as Tahir found Williamson’s edge, but they did not ask for a review. #NZvSA #CWC19 pic.twitter.com/HZLA7VGLZ6

Tahir went up with a half a shout while wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock didn’t even bother with an appeal. Replays showed a nick but Williamson survived leaving the Black Caps needing 74 to win off 72 balls.
The Kiwi captain would continue on with one of the best World Cup knocks ever to steer his side home, reach his own century and knock South Africa out of the World Cup.
