The Sydney Thunder men and women’s teams registered wins against the Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers respectively to stay within touching distance of their respective Big Bash League leaders.

The Sydney derby saw the Thunder claim bragging rights over the Sixers as they strolled to an eight-wicket win, thanks to a brilliant bowling attack and runs from Rachael Haynes and Naomi Stalenberg.

The Thunder outclassed the Scorchers in a close encounter thanks to exhibition batting from Jos Buttler and Callum Ferguson, as well as brilliant bowling and fielding from Fawad Ahmed.
