Heinrich Klaasen followed up a first-innings century with an unbeaten fifty to help the Northerns Titans seal an emphatic eight-wicket victory over the North West Dragons in Potchefstroom on Saturday.
The wicketkeeper-batter smashed an 82-ball 71* in a 121-run partnership with Grant Mokoena, who finished on 50* (87 balls) to help his side stroll to victory.
The Titans had dismissed the Dragons for 231 in their second innings, setting them 132 runs to win. Heino Kuhn scored 119 for the hosts, while Lizaad Williams took 3-16 for the Titans.
At Kingsmead, the Central Gauteng Lions will take a 179-run lead into the fourth and final day after the KZN Dolphins posted 337 in their first innings in response to the Lions’ 428-5 dec.
After Grant Roelofsen’s 66 on day two, Ruan de Swardt scored 59 with crucial late contributions from the tailenders.
Lutho Sipamla took 3-55 as the Lions reached stumps on 88-4.
In Gqeberha, the EP Warriors resumed on 75-2 before overnight batter Wihan Lubbe struck 102 to help power them to 356. Hardus Viljoen (3-52) and Stiaan van Zyl (3-18) took three wickets apiece for the Boland Rocks.
The visitors ended the day on 52-3 still needing another 291 runs to secure the win.
Due to heavy rain, there was no play on day three at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein between the Free State Knights and Western Province.
In Division Two, the KZN Inland Tuskers added 168 runs to their overnight score to complete their first innings on 332 against South Western Districts, with the experienced Cameron Delport scoring 119.
SWD were 135-1 at stumps, with a lead of 118.
In Benoni, the Eastern Storm require 418 runs to win after the Northern Cape Heat, led by Evan Jones’ 128, declared their second innings closed on 332-6.
Rain and a wet outfield caused no play in the clash between the Mpumalanga Rhinos and the Limpopo Impalas.
