Matthew Kleinveldt was left stranded on 199 as the Free State Knights were bowled out for 493 on day two of their match against the Boland Rocks in Paarl.
Rocks spinner Shaun von Berg picked up the last two Knights wickets in successive deliveries to complete a five-wicket haul and deny opener Kleinveldt the opportunity to get a double hundred.
Kleinveldt and Gihahn Cloete (122) put on 214 runs for the fifth wicket, after Migael Pretorius had made 56.
The Knights led the Rocks – who made 212 in their first innings – by 281 runs.
In Potchefstroom, Marques Ackerman scored 97, captain Sarel Erwee 78, Eathan Bosch 63 and Keegan Petersen 58 as the KZN Dolphins posted 329 in their first innings against the Central Gauteng Lions.
In reply, the Lions were 171-8 at stumps. Opener Joshua Richards top-scored with 47, while Thando Ntini took 3-19 for the Dolphins.
In Centurion, the North West Dragons were 24-1 in their second innings at the close of play, still trailing the Northerns Titans by 147 runs.
Having bowled the Dragons out for 148 in their first innings, the Titans made 319 all out thanks to half-centuries from Neil Brand (54), captain Sibonelo Makhanya (71), Dewald Brevis (56) and 40* from Ayabulela Gqamane.
Spinner Senuran Muthusamy (6-62) starred with the ball for the Dragons.

At Newlands, the EP Warriors added just one run to their first-innings tally before being bowled out for 352.
They then dismissed Western Province for 198. Fast bowler Siya Plaatjie was the destroyer-im-chief, taking 5-19, while Zubayr Hamza (54) and George Linde (63) made half-centuries for the hosts.
