The Southern Superstars ended the Central Gladiators’ run at the U19 Cubs Week on Friday.
The Superstars, who consist of players from Western Province, Boland and SWD, defeated the Gladiators by 144 runs.
Cormey van der Watt scored 71 and Bongile Mfunelwa 44* as the Superstars were bowled out for 246. Mfunelwa was named the Player of the Tournament at last year’s Khaya Majola Week.
SA U19 fast bowler Liyema Qaqu (3-33) and Riley Norton (3-16) then helped skittle the Gladiators for 102.
Only Dean Bacher (39), the son of former Proteas opening batsman Adam, provided some resistance with the bat.

The Coastal Conquerors secured their second victory of the week, against the Eastern Warriors.
The Warriors scored 255 thanks to half-centuries by Jean Upman (70) and Tre Gilbert (61), while Aryan Gopalan (3-42) was the pick of the Conquerors’ bowling attack.
Ntando Zuma then scored 121* (17 fours and two sixes) as the Conquerors secured a four-wicket win.

The Northern Champions claimed a five-wicket victory over the Western Legends.
The Legends were bowled out for 185 with Bathabile Mashigo (44) and GJ Maree (35) making the biggest contributions with the bat. Martin Khumalo (3-22) and Leo Sadler (2-21) caused the most damage with the ball.
Opening batsman Divan Engelbrecht then scored 86 for the Champions, while Bhamji Suleman (38) and Simele Maye (34) also made useful contributions.
