A Proteas Women’s batter, former Titans star and ex-Cape Cobras coach celebrated their birthdays on 2 April 2020.
Lizelle Lee
- The Proteas Women’s opening batter has played one Test, 82 ODIs and 74 T20Is since debuting in 2013. Earlier this year, the big-hitting right-hander welcomed a maiden century at international level during the Women’s T20I World Cup in Australia. She hit a brisk 101 against Thailand. The entertaining innings spanned just 60 deliveries – and featured 16 fours and a trio of sixes.
Gerald Dros
- The former Titans captain also played for Ireland – before ODI and Test status – and captained South Africa at the famed Hong Kong Sixes. Dros’ squad for that 2005 tournament featured the Proteas’ Tyron Henderson, Goolam Bodi and Adam Bacher. Henderson and Bodi, though, hadn’t yet played for the Proteas at the time.

Shukri Conrad
- He coached the Cape Cobras at the inaugural Champions League Twenty20 in 2009, proudly hailing: ‘We see ourselves as representative of the Western Cape and of South Africa.’ Six months later, Conrad was out of a job as the Cobras sought a ‘fresh face’. Most recently, he was the South Africa Emerging coach.
Phillip Amm
- The late Eastern Province batsman would have been 56 years old today. Former Proteas cricketers Meyrick Pringle and Dave Callaghan were among those who paid tribute at his funeral in 2015.
